On 21st April, 1916, the 9th Rifle Brigade battalion of 42 Brigade, 14th Division, went into the line in the Ronville sector at Arras where they remained until relieved on 29th April when they moved back to Simencourt. Charles Parker died from wounds on 24th April and it is likely that he was wounded during this period in the trenches.
